Analysis and Reflection

(a) Analysis Process

Step 1:
Purpose: Who will profit from the social good

Step 2:
Major question: Providing for the social good, who profits?

Step 3:
Sub-question 1: Who (which group of people) will it affect?
Sub-question 2: Who (which group of people) can benefit from it?
Sub-question 3: What is (team's definition of) Social Good?
Sub-question 4: Can it (the social good done) be tangible or intangible?

Step 4:
Factors to measure profits?
Factor 1: Does it improve the lives of the target audience?
Factor 2: Is the income generated sufficient enough?
Factor 3: Does it benefit the society as a whole?
Factor 4: Does it leave an impact on the people who profits?

Step 5:
Using the cause-effect analysis.

 Causes

being a successful professional in my field?
ii. What are the areas which I need to develop to speak, think
and behave like the professionals in my field?

The qualities I possess now which is crucial to being a successful professional in my field is that I am timely and do things according to what is needed. I try my best to make sure that my work is being handed up on time, or before the due date, and also will try to accomplish the necessary contents that is needed in the work. I feel that being able to hand up the work on time is very crucial because if one were to hand up the work late, it will set a negative impression on him or her. Also, being able to meet the contents as required will let people know that you understand what needs to be done and also, make the work structure clear and neat. Areas in which I need to improve in is to have confidence and also how I can try different ways to answer the question, rather than just following the usual. Having confidence is important because if I do not have it, I will keep doubting my own work and keep on finding more information to further justify my answers. This will lead to things like me not meeting the contents as required as too many information has been added, which might not be necessary. To add on, finding more ways to convey my answers can make me stand out from the rest of the people. This is because if everyone were to do the same thing, the answers given will all look the same.

One of the qualities that I now possess that is crucial for the field in my profession is perseverance. This is because that no matter what happens in my work, I need to continue and move forward because giving up will not let me go anywhere. It goes the same way for doing the project work for the past weeks. Initially, I had a hard time figuring out what to do for the project work. However, I tried to seek help from my teammates and also my facilitator to further explain the problem to me and slowly, I managed to understand the problem bit by bit. And now, I have a clearer vision on how to do the problem.

One of the areas in which I need to develop to speak, think and behave like the professions in my field is my confidence. This is because I have low self-confidence and it always holds me back from voicing out my thoughts, ideas and opinions. My low-self-confidence has also caused me to miss a lot of opportunities because I am always afraid that I am not capable enough to do things even before trying it. Therefore, I need self-confidence in my field of profession so that I can be brave enough to try and venture new things as social enterprises is mostly about innovation. I need to be more confident and outspoken so that I will be able to mix around and get to know the rest of social entrepreneurs and the beneficiaries.

One of the qualities would be passion, it is very crucial because if I don’t have the passion in what I do then I wouldn’t have a purpose and meaning in whatever I’m doing and wouldn’t be suitable to be a social entrepreneur. Another quality would be heart of compassion, if I don’t have it then I wouldn’t be able to understand their need and it wouldn’t drive me to do something to change and impact the lives of the less fortunate people. Some things I need to develop which is being able to speak confidently in front of people to bring out what I want to say because sometimes when I speak to large group of people I may feel afraid and lose my train of thoughts, I also need to be able to plan ahead and be flexible when things don’t work out because when something goes wrong I would panic and don’t know what to do and I will feel very stress, and I also need to be daring because if I don’t dare to take risk and continue to stay in my comfort zone then I wouldn’t be able to learn and explore new things.

Personally, I feel that the qualities I possess now which will be crucial for me to become a successful professional in my field will be ensuring that all the required/ necessary details are well elaborated and accomplished. I will constantly do thoroughly checks to ensure all requirements mentioned are met. Also, I believe that I will be able to provide adequate guidance/ ideas throughout the process of accomplishing something. I tend to think of innovative ideas to ensure that the plans are “fresh” so as to be able to attain attention from the audience. However, I believe that there are areas that I will need to further develop so as to be more professional in my field. Some of the areas will be my punctuality and to be more outspoken/ confident with my stand on various issues. As we know, punctuality is an important factor when it comes to work because it will determine your professionalism and it will leave a deep first impression on someone. In addition, being outspoken/ confident with my stand will also be able to help bring about my point of view and share about my opinion on something which will be beneficial for the various major decisions that will be going to determine the success of something. Thus, I believe that if I were to improve on these areas, I will be able to be a more reliable and credible person someone will choose to turn to, be it for advice or respect.
